How to Find your Volvo Radio Code

A Volvo head unit asks for its code after any loss of power. The serial is on the label on the casing, so the unit has to come out of the dash — most take four release keys, two per side.

Nothing needs unplugging: pull the unit forward far enough to read the top and side labels.

Two serial families turn up. Volvo’s own label starts VO and runs 14 characters; Delphi-built units carry a 16-character serial starting 89 — we answer both.

We have no code from a Volvo owner confirming the rule yet, so this one is free: you unlock it with a share and tell us whether it worked. That answer is exactly what moves Volvo into the paid, confirmed column.
